Kim Harley-Griffiths is a figurative and wildlife artist who explores and develops her thoughts, concepts and story telling through drawing, paint and ceramic sculpture.

I was born and grew up in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Living on the edge of an ancient woodland and the Welsh Mountain Zoo as a child, I would hear the mysterious atmospheric soundscape of animal noises at night. These primeval sounds fed directly into my imagination and dreams, which to me highlights how environment and medium can shape creative expression

I have had a long history as an Illustrator, drawing and painting but my quite recent discovery of clay unlocked new creative possibilities as I feel it is an extension to my drawing and painting. The tactile nature of clay allows me to create wildlife creatures and mythical figures I could never have imagined.

I have been working on the theme of Folklore including The Mabinogion, which is rich in Welsh mythology and has provided me with incredible inspiration for my 'Bwbach' figurative sculptures.
